My second big adventure with Goldilocks had me rolling back onto the auto train to Florida. I was hoping to swim with manatees at Manatee Springs State Park. It’s a calm, clear spring surrounded by trees, with cool water that flows gently toward the river — peaceful, refreshing, and full of subtle wildlife moments. I arrived and found everything I was hoping for except the manatees. Turns out, Florida’s beloved sea cows prefer cooler temps, and on this trip, they had other plans.
Still, the springs didn’t disappoint. The water was crisp, clear, and refreshing. And just when I thought I’d struck out, in zipped a playful little otter — an unexpected swimming buddy who made up for my missed manatee moment.
