Small van, big adventures

Not All Who Wander are Lost

I recently picked up this bumper sticker. I love that it sounds wise, a little poetic, and that it suggests that the person who displays it is moving through the world with ease and intention.

Sign: Not All Who Wander are Lost.

But if I’m being honest, a big reason I travel is because I am searching — understanding myself more deeply. It’s less like following a map and more like following a feeling — a quiet pull toward something just out of reach.

With every new place, I can feel my world stretching wider. I find myself drawn into conversations with strangers — asking about the land beneath our feet, the history of a town, what people do, how they live. There’s something grounding about it, like each small exchange adds another layer to how I understand the world.

Curiosity has a way of pulling me forward. Maybe I’m looking to “find myself,” or maybe I’m just trying to become a little more open, a little more aware. Seeing things from new perspectives. Replacing assumptions with understanding.

Because the more I learn about different places and people, the harder it becomes to hold onto old stereotypes or easy judgments. Experience softens those edges. It invites empathy. It shifts something quietly but steadily in how I think, respond, and move through the world.

So, whether I’m lost or just a wandering woman, I’m most definitely in the middle of becoming — learning, unlearning, and finding meaning in the spaces in between.

And for now, that feels just right for Goldilocks and me.
