Small van, big adventures

Photo Friday: John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park

When I drove through the park entrance, a strong sense of déjà vu washed over me. I’d been here before, back in 2013, but this felt older than memory — almost ancient, like I’d known this place in another life. At first, the feeling left me a little unsettled, wondering if my mind was playing tricks on me.

Once I got checked into my campsite and enjoyed a simple picnic on the beach, everything clicked into place. I felt completely at peace. The perfect place to end my trip. I’m coming back home on the Auto Train. I’m excited to see my cat, family and get ready for the winter holidays!

  1. The way you write this blog, I am transfixed and am transported on the trip with you! Please share this with EVERYONE! It is some of the best writing and I can feel Dad in every sentence somehow.

Laura that is so cool you did that trip really beautiful to see the photos. I cannot believe this coincidence that is exactly where my family camped, many times in the ’70s! Oh my goodness I couldn’t believe when I saw the name. Very cool!

  3. Well done Laura! I look forward to reading about your next adventure.

  4. I love it! I know we discussed your Florida adventure, but great to see the photos too. Keep up the good work!

  5. You look fabulous!!! I learned about mangroves from Alexandra who loves them. In fact she and I went kayaking deep inside a mangrove forest which was enchanting. You guys should go next time you’re in her area.

I’m so amazed by what you’re doing. It’s a lot of work doing it all on your own, but you’ve got this! You go girl!
